May 2025
Our focus this year is on renewing our photography. We've already taken three productive trips that took our art in unexpected directions. A trip to Pensacola showed us the beauty of the Gulf Coast. A weekend in Hocking Hills renewed our interest in waterfalls. And a weekend in the Upper Peninsula gave us amazing nightscape opportunities.
Midnight Gate
As I'm writing this we're in a farmhouse near Les Chaneaux islands, on Lake Huron. We were lucky and captured some beautiful night skies, which we'll share with you. Midnight Gate is the first work we have from that trip, with at least one more to follow.
Chasing Waterfalls
In spite of what TLC would have you believe, you definitely should chase waterfalls. We went to Hocking Hills in April and were not disappointed. Upper Falls is one of the most iconic images of Hocking Hills, and justifiably so. We were delighted with these images when we got home.
Pensacola
Finally in Pensacola we saw a side of Florida we have never seen before. The barrier islands are new to us, but we loved the abundant wildlife and the wild ocean.
This was also the first time we've captured a good photo of an eagle. It was the first day of our trip, and set the tone for the rest of our stay. Without a doubt we will be returning to the area.
