Made from red oak that fell on Clay’s parents’ property. The trees were sawn into lumber, and have been air drying for the last couple of decades. Each frame is built and finished by Clay. We offer these frames in Natural and Ebonized treatments.
Ebonized oak has been treated with iron acetate, which reacts to the tannins in the oak and turns the wood black. Because the tannins are not distributed evenly through the wood, there is a subtle organic pattern to the coloring that would be difficult to achieve with a stain. The result is a deep black with red undertones and highlights.
Our frames are finished with an oil finish. A hanging wire will be attached to the back, and your Certificate of Authenticity will be affixed to the back. Your framed photo will ship in a cardboard slip case to protect it. These slip cases can be kept if you want to store or transport your photo in the future.
